Tenant's insurance

So that you can move straight into a new home without worrying about either a deposit or home insurance, we have developed a new product in collaboration with If insurance – Tenant's Insurance.

Renting a property requires a security deposit equivalent to three months' rent. You can choose whether to establish a customer relationship and deposit three months' rent into a deposit account at a bank, or if you prefer to purchase Tenant's Insurance.

Why buy Tenant Insurance?
You avoid paying a deposit, you get home contents insurance with extra security for you as a tenant, and you pay over time once a month.

The contents insurance is tailored for you as a tenant with unique coverages such as accidental damage insurance on rented property and key insurance. If you happen to damage the property during the tenancy, you can contact If and have the damage covered up to 40,000 kroner.

Please be aware that even if you are insured, in the event of a breach of the lease agreement (e.g., due to non-payment of rent or vandalism), you will be held financially responsible by If for the landlord's losses, just as you would with a security deposit account.

How do I purchase Tenant Insurance, and what does it cost?
You can purchase Tenant Insurance when you enter into a rental agreement through Utleiemegleren. If you already have a rental agreement with us, you can contact the broker to purchase Tenant Insurance.

The tenant's insurance costs 2.6% of the monthly rent (min. NOK 300, max. NOK 700), and is added to the rent that is paid to the Rental Agent each month.

Who is the insurance policy for?
The insurance policy applies to all residents of the rental property – regardless of who is listed on the lease agreement.

How do I report a claim?
You can file the case through If's website here. Alternatively, contact If's experts by phone at 21 49 00 00.
